Learn Secrets to Give a Great Pitch – while Being an Introvert

IntoFormulaGetClients8“You don’t understand: It’s hard for me to make a pitch because I’m an introvert,” I overheard one person say to another before I served as a Pitch Judge recently. Introvert does not mean shy. Shy is a set of behaviors. When I was younger, I did a certain set of behaviors that caused me to think of myself as shy. Then I gained mentors and moved beyond that.

You CAN make a great pitch if you’re dealing with being an introvert. By the way, an introvert has specific advantages.  This is so important to me that I created an online course, The Introvert’s Formula to Get Clients (begins June 11, 2018) – to help introverts use their specific advantages. I also help introverts avoid trying to be a “fake extrovert.”  Being an introvert is about how you’re wired and how you pay out energy when you’re in a group. From the standpoint of a pitch: if someone asked you a really tough question, you can use the same principle that I share in this 4.2 minute video about how to avoid creating more resistance.

Instead, during this video you learn how to guide a person (like an Aikido master) by using effective language.

In summary: being an introvert is a matter of energy. To do your best when you give a pitch, you need to focus on three things: Words, Strategy and Rehearsal.

Words – Strategy – Rehearsal form the center of my work with clients and audiences about pitching and giving great speeches that move people to cooperate—for example, investors to give you funding.

One special detail that I bring to your attention now: Use the concept of Better Than Zero. As I help introverts become better speakers and give better pitches, I coach them in a special way to rehearse. They learn to use only three to five minutes in the morning and only three to five minutes in the evening as part of creating a real transformation.  You can create such a transformation in you so that you can pitch and come across as confident even if, as an introvert, you might feel truly uncomfortable on the inside.
